M&S Aberdeen Celebrates History and Future with Retired Colleagues and Charity Afternoon Tea
M&S hosted a heartwarming afternoon tea for retired and former colleagues at its St Nicholas store in Aberdeen on Tuesday 18th February to raise funds for local cancer charity ANCHOR.
Colleagues, old and new, took a nostalgic trip down memory lane and reminisced about their time working at the St Nicholas Street store.
The event also served as a fundraiser for ANCHOR, a local charity that provides vital support to those affected by cancer. The event raised £4630 in total, further demonstrating the M&S’s commitment to giving back to the local community.
Grace Barnett, Deputy Store Manager commented: "We're delighted to support ANCHOR and the incredible work they do for our community. It's a cause close to the hearts of many of our colleagues, and we're proud to contribute to their efforts."
“"It's wonderful to reconnect with our retired colleagues who have contributed so much to M&S over the years. Their stories and memories are invaluable, and it's a privilege to celebrate our shared history while looking forward to the exciting future of M&S in Aberdeen."
Guests also had an opportunity to share their thoughts on the upcoming Union Square store expansion. In 2024, M&S recently announced the £15 million expansion of the Aberdeen Union Square store. The expanded store, set to open later this year, will feature a spacious, market-style food hall, a flower shop, a cheese barge, an in-store bakery, a dedicated M&S Wine Shop, and larger clothing, home, and beauty departments.
Following the completed expansion of the Union Square store, the existing St Nicholas store will close.
Luke Smith, Store Manager, M&S Aberdeen Union Square commented: "This event highlighted the strong sense of community that has always been a hallmark of M&S in Aberdeen. While we start to say goodbye to our St Nicholas Street store, we are excited to invest in the future of M&S in Aberdeen with the expanded Union Square store set to offer a great quality shopping experience. We enjoyed hearing the insights and perspectives of our retired colleagues, who are also some of our best customers, as we embark on this special new chapter."
