M&S has opened the doors today to its brand-new, 27% bigger foodhall on the Upper Mall at Merry Hill.

A major transformation, seeing the store expand into four units and bring food, fashion, beauty & home together into one location, has been underway since May and customers have been using a temporary foodhall while work takes place.

Now, the brand-new fresh market-style foodhall is ready to be unveiled!

A new entrance gives customers access directly from the car park into a produce section brimming with fresh fruit and vegetables from M&S’ Select Farm partners (over 450 are based in the West Midlands).

Customers will then spot the brand-new 26ft in-store bakery & coffee counter, serving a range of bread and pastries, from M&S’ Collection Sourdough, made through a traditional 30-hour process, to treats such as the viral Chunked ‘n’ Loaded cookies.

The new coffee counter offers a menu of barista-made coffee and iced drinks to enjoy while browsing the store.

With 450 new and upgraded M&S Food products for summer, customers will be spoilt for choice out of new picky bits products, including topped chicken shawarma dip and grilled Turkish green olives.

For fans of hosting, M&S’ iconic cheese and deli barges are a standout and elsewhere, customers will find a significantly bigger household offer, with more everyday essentials, alongside dedicated Flower and Wine shops.

Throughout the store, customers can find M&S’ Remarksable Value range of over 100 everyday essentials, price benchmarked against key competitors and family-friendly Bigger Pack Better Value choices – recently increased by a third to over 100 products.

Transformation work is continuing across fashion, home and beauty and on a brand-new circular Lower Mall M&S Coffee Shop - both are set to be revealed this October, as the store celebrates its 35th anniversary.

Tom Hawthorne, Store Manager at M&S Merry Hill, who leads the 257-strong store team, said: “It feels amazing to finally reveal our showstopping new foodhall, we have been counting down the days! A massive thanks to all our customers for their patience while work has been going on and to my team, for all their hard work. This is just stage one of our transformation but I know customers will absolutely love the changes – we have so many more products, so much more space and so many more exciting changes planned for our full launch in October.”

Merry Hill is the largest destination shopping centre in the West Midlands. Jonathan Poole, Centre Manager at Merry Hill, added: "The last couple of years have been transformational at Merry Hill. The opening of the brand new M&S foodhall marks an important milestone and offers our millions of visitors an exceptional food and drink experience, bringing the very best of M&S food to their centre. When fully opened later in the year the new M&S flagship store and coffee shop will be a great benefit for our shoppers as they enjoy even more ways to eat, shop and spend time together at Merry Hill."

M&S Merry Hill is one of 12 M&S stores across the UK set to be renewed this year to ensure each offers the best possible shopping experience, alongside 16 new store openings and nine extensions, backed by a £300m investment.

M&S Merry Hill is open between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am and 7pm Saturday and 11am and 5pm on Sunday.
