M&S Food’s recent price investments include in June when the retailer announced it would be cutting the prices of 75 products, and most recently at the start of September it extended its Price Lock on over 140 customer favourites until after Christmas to provide families with certainty in the run up to the festive season, including on products such as Homestyle frozen chips 1KG (£2.50), Braeburn Apples Pack of six (£1.70), Select Farm Easy Peelers (£2.00), and the price lock bestseller, Chickpeas (60p).
In addition M&S continually passes on savings to customers as part of its Remarksable Value range of everyday staples available in-store and online via Ocado. Launched in 2019, each product is benchmarked against key competitors.
Customers looking to get ahead on Christmas planning
The price investment comes as increasing numbers of M&S customers are looking to get ahead with Christmas plans this year. Almost 50% of shoppers have started preparing for Christmas and M&S’ Christmas food to order sales are up 22% compared to this time last year with products like the Honey Roasted Parsnips proving a huge hit.
To coincide with this M&S is launching its Christmas Gift Shop tomorrow across stores (Thursday 12 October) comprising gift and stocking filler ideas across Beauty, Home, PJs, Food, Decorations, Card & Wrap, as well as seasonal edits from Cosy, Kids, William Morris, and Fired Earth.
As part of its trusted value promise to offer value to customers at a time when it matters most, the majority of lines are like for like on price from last year, with 70% of this year’s Gift Shop range under £20 and 30% is £10 or less.
