  • M&S has held prices on its market leading school uniform since 2021 and confirms return of popular 20% off school uniform early bird offer this July.
  • Designed to be durable and pass the ‘hand-me-down’ quality test, M&S is offering extended 100-day returns period on school uniform.
  • For the first time, M&S introduces dedicated school uniform advisors in over 100 stores for Back-to-School season – a £1 million investment.

Today, Marks & Spencer has announced it is protecting the price of its market leading quality school uniform for the fourth year in a row.

Trusted Value

According to the latest M&S Family Matters Index*, the cost of living remains a concern for three quarters of families, with nearly half of customers placing value as the most important priority when shopping. As part of M&S' commitment to protecting value on the products that matter most to customers, the retailer is clear that the hold on prices - which have remained the same since 2021 - will not compromise on the quality M&S is known for, as it offers an extended 100-day returns period on school uniform**.

Hand-me-down Quality

M&S school uniform is designed to be durable and pass the ’hand-me-down’ quality test to ensure even when it’s outgrown, it’s too good to waste and can be handed down to family and friends. Across the range, M&S has incorporated intelligent innovative design features that grow with children, from growth proof hems to adjustable waistbands and the 2024 range continues to include the parent-friendly innovations M&S is known for - from permanent pleats in skirts to “easy to iron” shirts.

Exceptional service

This year, M&S is investing in the return of service, offering more colleagues in store to make sure customers have the very best experience when, where or how they shop. As part of this, M&S has invested £1 million introducing dedicated school uniform advisors in over 120 of its Clothing & Home stores, to support families with expert advice during the busy Back-to-School season.

Also, back by popular demand, from 2 July, M&S will be offering an additional 20% off school uniform for early bird shoppers, for a limited time only. Prices in the range start from just £7 for a 3 pack of 100% responsibly sourced cotton unisex polo shirts, featuring stain resistant technology. When the additional 20% Back-to-School offer is applied, prices start from just £5.60 for early bird shoppers.

Alexandra Dimitriu, Kidswear Director at M&S, commented: “As the UK market leaders during the Back-to-School season, we’re maintaining the magic of M&S. Trusted value, hand-me-down quality and exceptional service sit at the heart of what we offer and this year, we’ve done everything we can to bring this to life for families. From our hold on prices to investment in school uniform advisors, no matter how, when and where our customers are shopping, we’re making the Back-to-School shop as seamless as possible.”

This season, M&S is also making it easier to remember the ‘extras’ by welcoming third-party brand partners Smiggle and Hype to over 100 M&S stores across the UK. The retailer also continues to offer free eyecare to all children under 16 in M&S Opticians - this includes eye tests, plus prescription glasses up to the value of £49.

The full Back to School product range is available in store and on M&S.com and available for next-day delivery or free Click & Collect to over 700 M&S locations.
