M&S Merry Hill has officially opened its fully transformed store today, with colleagues cutting the ribbon to welcome customers inside. Yvonne Chatwin, who has been part of the Merry Hill team for an incredible 50 years, and Tracy Halford, celebrating her 40th anniversary with M&S, proudly led the ribbon-cutting celebrations.
The store has undergone a major redevelopment over recent months, bringing together four connected units to create an impressive 100,000 sq. ft space that unites M&S Food, Fashion, Beauty, and Home under one roof.
Just in time for the festive season, customers can now explore brand-new menswear, home and Christmas gift shop departments, joining the womenswear, kidswear, beauty, Foodhall and coffee shop areas that opened earlier while final works were completed.
This follows the launch of the new market-style Foodhall, now 27% larger, completed while work continued on neighbouring units.
M&S Merry Hill is one of 12 stores being renewed across the UK this year, alongside 16 new store openings and nine extensions, backed by a ÂŁ300m investment.
The revamped beauty department features customer favourites, including Apothecary, Fresh Elements and Burst Bodycare. Festive shoppers can also browse the new M&S Christmas gift shop, featuring the M&S x Kelly Hoppen festive range.
After ticking everything off their list, visitors can relax at the store’s recently opened in-store bakery and coffee counter.
Tom Hawthorne at M&S Merry Hill said: “We’re delighted to celebrate the full transformation of our Merry Hill store! With our new menswear, home and Christmas gift sections now open, customers can enjoy an even better shopping experience alongside our already popular Foodhall, coffee counter and womenswear offering. The response from the local community has already been brilliant, and with Christmas fast approaching, we’re excited to welcome shoppers looking for festive gifts and treats! A huge thank you to our team and customers for their support throughout the journey.”
Merry Hill is the largest destination shopping centre in the West Midlands. Jonathan Poole, Centre Manager of Merry Hill, said: “We’re delighted that M&S’ new and improved flagship store is now officially open at Merry Hill. Following a significant investment in the centre, the expanded nearly 100,000 sq. ft store offers M&S’ full range and latest concept – from exceptional food and beauty, to furniture and fashion – all under one roof, and it’s already proving exceptionally popular with visitors.
“M&S have made a long-term commitment to Merry Hill and the refurbished store marks a new chapter for the brand, having opened its original store here 35 years ago. The store is a key piece in the continued transformation of the centre and we look forward to sharing further exciting centre news soon.”
M&S Merry Hill is open between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am and 7pm Saturday and 11am and 5pm on Sunday. During the peak festive period, the store will open between 8am and 9pm Monday to Friday, and between 8am and 8pm on Saturday.
