- Value multipacks, long-lasting fabrics and practical design features to help with replacements, growth spurts and the demands of the full school year
With October half term in full swing, M&S has announced it will not increase the price of its school uniform in 2027 and hold prices for a market-leading seventh year in a row to help families manage the cost of replacing items throughout the school year.
The commitment is designed to provide reassurance beyond the first-day uniform shop, helping families manage the cost of replacements, growth spurts and the everyday demands of the full school year.
Charlotte Davies, Director of Kidswear at M&S, said: “School uniform is an essential purchase, and we know families are looking closely at every pound they spend. Holding prices for a seventh year is one way we can help. Just as importantly, we are continuing to invest in fabrics, fit and practical features so parents can feel confident that the uniform they buy will wash well, last and, passed on.”
Made well, made to last
M&S is also investing in practical details designed to stand up to the demands of the school year. Trousers, skirts and pinafores use an exclusive durable twill fabric, woven using advanced spinning technology and looms to make it highly durable and easy to iron. Woven trousers and skirts also have a fluorocarbon-free finish that repels water and stains, helping protect against the weather and reduce the need for washing.
Features designed to extend wear include up to 3cm of extra length in trouser hems, adjustable waists across trousers and skirts, permanent pleats in pinafores and skirts, and super crease technology in trousers to retain a sharp front crease after washing. Blazers include an ink-resistant pocket lining to help protect shirts from leaking pens.
Easy-care features include easy-to-iron and non-iron shirts, StayNew™ technology on school polos and knitwear to help colours stay bright, and a stain resistant finish on polos to help repel stains and release them more easily in the wash.
For younger children and those who benefit from simpler fastenings, selected products include Expandicuff™ sleeves and an easy-close top button on shirts up to age eight, printed or hidden labels, no-button shirts and polos, and pull-on skirts, trousers and shorts with stretchy waistbands.
Extended sizes are also available in trousers and shirts across length, waist and body fit.
Following a 30% increase in online sales of five-pack value lines last year, M&S has expanded its focus on multipacks. Stretch trousers and girls’ jersey trousers have moved into two-packs reducing the cost per item by £2.
