Open Farm Sunday 2014
Visit an M&S Farm on 8th June 2014
Would you like to visit a farm and seen how food is produced? Every year on a Sunday in June, hundreds of farms around the country open their gates to the public as part of LEAF’s Open Farm Sunday. Here at M&S we are proud to sponsor this event, as we really believe it’s important for everyone to understand where their food comes from and the care that goes into producing it.
M&S producers all over the UK are getting involved and if you live in the South of England you can visit one of the farms that we are supporting this year.
We are helping out at Old Rides Farm, Eastchurch, on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, where Robert Hinge and his family produce fruit for M&S, and also at Chris and Caroline Spiby’s dairy farm - Chalder Farm, Chichester in West Sussex. Chris’s cows produce fresh milk for M&S stores and Caroline also makes her own delicious ice cream, which is definitely worth a taste!
Both of these farms opened their gates for visitors last year and welcomed more than a thousand visitors each, proving that Open Farm Sunday really is a popular day out for families. We’re also encouraging as many of our staff as possible to visit an M&S Open Farm this year, to further strengthen the link between M&S and our producers.
Most events are free and have plenty of things to interest visitors of any age. To find out about which farms are open near you visit http://www.farmsunday.org and mark Sunday 8th June 2014 on your calendar now!
