Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. Just by buying a Fairtrade product you can help support these communities – from cotton to coffee, bananas to tea.
Here in the UK, we're a devoted nation of tea lovers, drinking around 165 million cups per day. M&S understands just how passionate we all are about the quality, taste and origin of our favourite cuppa, and thus is dedicated to producing delicious blends and helping improve the lives of the farmers who grow it.
M&S was the first major retailer to switch all its tea and coffee to Fairtrade back in 2006 and has continued to strengthen relationships with suppliers across the world, so you can rest assured farmers are paid a fair price for their crop.
M&S is also the first retailer in the world to launch a Kenyan tea that’s packed by the smallholders who grow it. M&S and its Fairtrade tea supplier, Iri-iani, have been working on the project since 2010 with the aim of adding value to the Kenyan tea crop. By providing funds, education and expert advice, M&S has helped the Kenyan farmers acquire the skills and technical knowledge to not only grow, but also package their tea. The aim is to enable the farmers to become self-sufficient and build their future business. Pure Origin Mount Kenya Teabags are in store now £1.79 for 50 teabags
Our selection of Fairtrade wines are produced from Fairtrade certified vineyards, which ensures growers are paid a fair price for their grapes and allows workers to invest in their communities. One of our favourites is Peacock Tail Sauvignon Blanc - fresh and intensely aromatic; it's produced in the Stellenbosch region of South Africa by Koopmanskloof.
The flowers and foliage in this bouquet are from Fairtrade certified flower farms.
