CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY: M&S HELPS BUSY CUSTOMERS GET READY FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON
This year M&S customers are getting ready for Christmas earlier than ever before. ‘Christmas’ has been in the top ten customer searches on M&S.com since the beginning of September, with an average of 2,500 searches a day and peaking so far at 5,000 searches last Sunday.
With 90 days until the big day, customers are ready to shop and in response M&S has today launched its online gift shop at https://www.marksandspencer.com/christmas This online launch is a week earlier than last year and follows the introduction of in-store gift shops at seven stores in major shopping destinations last week. The in-store gift shops have been launched earlier than ever before and ahead of the rest of M&S’s stores which follow next Friday.
Research from M&S shows that the majority of customers start planning their present giving in November (28%) with 23% starting in October and 16% in September. An organised 8% start in January but 11% are still last-minute shoppers – not thinking about it until December.
With 48% of customers finding the right gifts to buy for people a cause of Christmas stress – the UK’s biggest Clothing & Home retailer aims to be on hand from now until the big day to make shopping stress-free.
