Marks & Spencer (M&S) is excited to announce a royal re-brand in honour of the wedding of HRH Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle. In celebration of Britain’s most anticipated wedding of the year, M&S will become Markle & Sparkle for one weekend only (18-20 May). The official unveiling of the re-brand will take place on Friday 18th May at 10am at the M&S Windsor store, which will be rebranded Markle & Sparkle.

And customers up and down the country can join in the celebrations as M&S’s website, social media accounts and store windows in the eight Royal boroughs will re-brand to Markle & Sparkle to commemorate the brilliantly British occasion.

The official unveiling at M&S Windsor will reveal a sparkly Markle & Sparkle branded fascia fit for royalty to commemorate the occasion. All the pomp and ceremony to be expected of a Royal re-brand will be at play on the day, including a traditional town crier making the announcement and a ceremonial ribbon cut performed by world famous and recently wed M&S characters Percy & Penny Pig in their wedding best.

The Royal newlyweds are expected to pass-by the newly branded Markle & Sparkle Windsor store following their nuptials at St George’s Chapel on Saturday 19 May.

Sharry Cramond, Marketing Director Food & Hospitality, M&S said: “As a quintessentially British brand we had to do something special to mark the Royal Wedding and what better way to welcome Meghan to the family than to ‘marry’ both our names together for the weekend. As a retailer we’ve celebrated 34 Royal Weddings over our 134-year history, but this is the boldest idea we’ve delivered yet! We wanted to spark a smile from Harry & Meghan on their big day and capture the excitement and celebratory mood of the nation on receiving a real-life Hollywood Princess into our Royal Family!”

M&S social channels will shut down the evening before the event hinting that they will be undergoing a very special ‘makeover’, while teams will be working throughout the night on Thursday 17May to erect new branding at each of the M&S stores in the Royal boroughs.

M&S stores in Kensington & Chelsea, Reading, Maidenhead, Camberley, Bracknell, Newbury, Leamington Spa, Tunbridge Wells, Swindon, Kingston Upon Thames, Lewisham, Llandudno and Sutton Coldfield will feature specially designed Markle & Sparkle windows and décor in the traditional colours of the Union Jack; red, white and blue.

The great British public is also invited to M&S’s first ever nation-wide street party hosted in selected* M&S Cafes on Saturday 19 May and will include screenings of the Royal Wedding. The first 10 customers to join the in-store celebrations will also receive a selection of brilliantly British treats in an exclusively designed Royal Wedding bag. Limited edition Markle & Sparkle branded umbrellas and flags will also be given away to customers mark the big day.

M&S customers are also invited to take a picture and send their best wishes to the Royal newlyweds via our Markle & Sparkle selfie booths, which will be installed at all of our Royal borough stores on the day. Customers not able to join us in store are invited to share their messages with us on social media using the hashtag #MarkleandSparkle . M&S will collate all the messages from customers into a virtual wedding album which will be sent onto Kensington Palace on behalf of all M&S customers, colleagues and the great British public.
