Mobile, Pay, Go: We're enabling more customers to experience the checkout free checkout

Last month, we announced the roll-out of Mobile, Pay, Go across six London stores before Christmas, which enables customers to seamlessly pay for their shopping via the M&S app, without approaching a till.

After a successful initial launch in our Waterside Simply Food and Edgware Road stores in October, we're excited to introduce the service to West Hampstead, Bankside and Canary Wharf, enabling an enhanced, digitally enabled shopping experience for more customers.

Since introducing Mobile, Pay, Go, almost half of our active users make at least two transactions per week using the app with over 2,100 users to date. After launching on iOS, the next step was to roll-out to Android devices, with over a third of our mobile visits coming from these users. We're one of the first retailers to offer scan and go technology to Android users, ensuring as many of our customers can benefit from this enhanced experience.

With the technology now available for more customers across London on Android and iOS devices, we're expecting an uptake in Mobile, Pay, Go sign-ups over the coming weeks. And we'll soon be launching in our Westfield Stratford City store in time for Christmas.

Following the initial roll-out, Mobile, Pay, Go has made a huge difference to our busy customers who can buy their lunch for example in less than 40 seconds. More shoppers are opting to scan and pay on mobile over queuing at the checkout and we’re expecting more than a third of all shops at our Waterside Simply Food store to take place via the app during the weeks to come.

As we transform to become a digital first retailer, we're constantly adapting our technology based on customer feedback to continually improve the experience for them. We’re updating the look and feel of the app to provide an even simpler user journey. We're also streamlining the registration process through Sparks to make it as easy as possible for customers to get started.
