Supporting our food suppliers
Throughout the Covid-19 crisis, our food suppliers have supported us in delivering for our customers, so we’re supporting them to continue delivering the high standards our customers expect from M&S.
Since the start of the crisis, we have been in constant communication with all of our suppliers and have provided best practice guidelines to help them to make necessary adjustments to their sites—from implementing increased hygiene measures to installing screens to maintain distance. We acted quickly to support our suppliers to manage absence and maintain social distancing by simplifying production lines and focusing on essential M&S products where needed.
We’ve been doing all we can to support our suppliers throughout these unprecedented times, from extending our funding platform for our smaller food suppliers to access immediate payments to backing our 10,000 British farmers—who have faced enormous challenges—through our customer marketing channels. We are continuing to work with each individual supplier, alongside conducting virtual site audits and ethical checks, to make sure our standards are always upheld and workers in our supply chain keep well.
