Hints & Tips
When it comes to applying for a place on our scheme, how can you help yourself stand out from the crowd?
We thought we’d ask a few of our current graduates to pass on their tips for making a successful application.
“Try and get a part-time job at M&S while you’re studying. This will give you an insight into how the store works and what kind of tasks you’ll be managing in the future.” Caroline
“If you get invited to an assessment centre, go with your instincts and don’t be afraid to speak up during the exercises. And even though you’ll be nervous (I know I certainly was), try to have fun too, because it’s a brilliant day and a great introduction to what your career will be like if you are successful.” Amy
“Do your research. M&S has introduced loads of innovative products over the last couple of years, and there’s plenty more in the pipeline. Read about them – it will inspire you and help you prepare for your assessment.” Nick
“Visit your local M&S store to get a feel for the environment you’ll be working in and soak up as much information about the scheme as you can. It will all prove useful at your assessment.” Ritesh
“It’s important that you’re flexible and resilient, as you’ll be calling on these qualities every day. A fair bit of common sense will come in handy too.” Glenn
“Be yourself, be confident, be passionate and above all, make sure you do your homework on the company.” Rachael
