Our HR management team ensure we attract, develop and retain the very best talent, providing the commercial line managers with the highest possible standard of specialist HR support. This 18-month programme is designed to turn you into a top HR professional by giving you the very best foundation.
What exactly will I be doing on the scheme?
You will provide professional, expert advice and support to line managers as they manage and develop their teams. Completing the majority of your learning on-the-job in our fast paced, ever-changing retail environment you'll be supported by specialist workshops and led by our experienced HR professionals.
How will you help me develop?
This broad 18-month programme will provide you with experience of people management from both a commercial and HR perspective. You’ll be trained in all aspects of HR, from manpower planning, recruitment, people training and development, HR systems, processes and compliance, right through to employee relations.
What sort of qualities are you looking for?
Good communication skills are especially important for this role, as you need to be able to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds. You also need the enthusiasm and drive to help us move the business forward, as well as the ability to come up with new and innovative ideas that will help us stay ahead of our competitors. And while we do place a lot of emphasis on individual initiative, it’s the ability to work as part of a team that ensures new ideas are actually put into practice.
What happens after I’ve completed the scheme?
By the end of the scheme, you’ll be ready to take on one of the roles in our indsustry-leading HR function. This could be as an HR Buisness Partner or Policy Specialist, or within HR Administration & Change Management or Training. You’ll provide professional, expert advice and support to line managers as they manage and develop their teams. After that, how far you go and how quickly you get there will depend entirely on your ability and desire to succeed.
Will I gain a professional qualification?
Our in-house training programme gives you core level of HR knowledge that is closely aligned to CIPD standards. We’re currently working in partnership with the CIPD to enable our HR people to gain CIPD membership primarily through the demonstration of their knowledge and practical experience. Once you have completed your HR training, you’ll have the chance to achieve membership of the CIPD via an educational route through educational sponsorship.
