Marks & Start
It’s not one-size-fits-all at M&S. We’re helping young people, the homeless, lone parents and those with disabilities find work with us. Why? Because everyone should have the confidence to do what they enjoy. Our Plan A credentials aren’t just about the environment. We have a commitment to helping our communities, and the people in them.
So for that reason we set up Marks & Start. We have also just launched a new programme called Make your Mark (developed specifically for young people). They are both employability programmes, which together support close to 3,000 people each year by providing work experience placements in our stores and offices throughout the UK. It builds their confidence, and has made M&S a diverse and inclusive place to work.
We have four partners who help those on the programme by providing coaching to improve confidence, as well as financial advice. Following pre-placement training, you’ll then spend two to four weeks on a work placement where you’ll be paired with a buddy who’ll help give everyday support. After the placement, there is follow-up training where you can discuss next steps, tailor your CV and discuss interview techniques. And if you want it, they’ll help put you forward for any vacancies.
Marks & Start Logistics has just launched in Castle Donington and is recruiting. To find out more click here.
