Marks & Spencer is launching a range of handmade greetings cards in partnership with Traidcraft, a leading UK organisation, combating poverty through trade. The collection includes cards for all occasions – birthday, wedding, new baby, new home, Mother’s day and Father’s day. The initial collection of 12 cards will be in store for the end of February, with additional lines to be introduced over the next year.
The cards are made by workers and artisans linked to the Salay community in the Philippines and Swajan in Bangladesh using traditional and local techniques and fabrics with Marks & Spencer designers advising on the designs.
“I enjoy doing good work and working here…When I learn that the customers are buying these cards, it is confirmation of the quality of our work…I feel proud.”
Taslima Akter, Swajan workshop employee
All cards are £3 each and are available from selected M&S stores nationwide.
