Marks & Spencer is pleased to announce that Jean Tomlin has been appointed as the new Director of Human Resources, with effect from 17 March 2003. Jean will report directly to Roger Holmes, Chief Executive and will sit on the Group Operating Committee.
Jean's career combines strong HR experience and a successful track record in business development and change management.
Her career began at Ford in 1977, where she was involved in all aspects of employee relations. In 1986, she moved to Prudential, initially into HR, and subsequently becoming Sales and Operations Director of Prudential Direct. She was instrumental in the establishment of Prudential Direct and was responsible for the infrastructure supporting this new business launch. 1998 saw her join Prudential Banking and from there, she became HR Director of Egg plc. Since 2002, Jean has been the Human Resource and Development Director at Corporate Services Group.
Jean Tomlin said: 'I am very excited to be joining Marks & Spencer at this time. The people agenda is a vital part of the company's continuing success and I am looking forward to working with the team to build on this.'
