Marks and Spencer Group p.l.c. has received notification today that on 1 July 2003 Artisan Partners Limited Partnership was interested in 68,276,640 ordinary shares in Marks and Spencer Group p.l.c. representing 3.0% of the issued share capital of the Company. This interest arises by virtue of Section 208(4)(b) of the Act and is attributed to a number of registered holders who manage funds on behalf of Artisan Partners Limited Partnership.
